PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER LICENSE BY COMITY
All comity/reciprocity applications must be complete in the Board office no later than 30 days prior to the next scheduled meeting of the Board. Tentative Board meeting dates are available on this web site under "About Us". The fee for Professional Engineer by Comity application is $250. (This application is for individuals who are already licensed in a state other than Kansas.)
FUNDAMENTALS OF ENGINEERING EXAM
Applicants for the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Exam will no longer apply through the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions. Beginning November 4, 2013, all applicants will go directly to NCEES (www.ncees.org) for registration for the computerized FE exam.
Applicants who register as a Kansas candidate must meet the Kansas educational requirements. If you register as a Kansas candidate and do not meet the educational standard, this Board will not verify your results nor issue you an Intern Engineer Certificate.

INTERN ENGINEER CERTIFICATE
This application is to determine eligibility for a Kansas Intern Engineer Certificate. If you meet the Kansas educational requirements and have passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Exam you may apply for an Intern Engineer Certificate. The Intern Engineer Certificate is a required prerequisite before applying to take the PE exam
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER LICENSE BY EXAM
This application is to determine eligibility for the Professional Engineering Examination. There is a $60 application/licensing fee due with the application. Examination fees are paid directly to NCEES.

Applications are currently being accepted for those who have completed 4 years of experience since graduation. For best customer service, apply early.
If you indicated that you were a Kansas candidate when taking the Fundamentals of Engineering exam through NCEES you must complete the Intern Engineer Certificate application prior to submitting your application to take the PE exam.

If your Kansas Professional Engineering license has lapsed or been cancelled, you must complete the Reinstatement Application. The fee is $100.
Return to Practice Application
If your Professional Engineering license has been on Retired status, you must complete the Return to Practice Application to change your license to Active status. Continuing education is required for Active status.
Emeritus Status Application
A Professional Engineer who chooses this status may not practice in Kansas, however they may use their professional title in conjunction with the word "emeritus." No renewal required.

Information: Any applicant who is admitted to an examination and who either does not appear for the exam or who fails the exam, must again pay the fee to take the exam in another exam administration. Kansas law does not provide for refunds of any application fees.

After you have taken the PE exam you will be notified, by mail, of your scores. Exam scores will not be given over the phone. Applicants who are approved to take the PE exam may do so up to three times, if necessary. Applicants will not be allowed to take the PE exam a fourth time without permission from the Board. Please contact the Board office if you have any further questions.
