PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER LICENSE BY COMITY
All comity/reciprocity applications must be complete in the Board office no later than 30 days prior to the next scheduled meeting of the Board.  Tentative Board meeting dates are available on this web site under "About Us".  The fee for Professional Engineer by Comity application is $250.


Fundamentals of Engineering EXAM 
Choose the appropriate category to determine eligibility for the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination.  The fee for this examination is paid directly to NCEES. 
  1.  UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT currently enrolled at KSU, KU, WSU or Benedictine. (Online form)
 
  2.  UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT currently enrolled at KSU, KU, WSU or Benedictine. (Printable form)  (This form may be scanned and submitted by e-mail or sent by US mail.)
 
  3.  GRADUATE with an EAC/ABET Accredited Engineering Degree.
 
  4.  GRADUATE with a Baccalaureate Engineering Degree from OUTSIDE the United States.


PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER LICENSE BY EXAM
This application is to determine eligibility for the Professional Engineering Examination.  The fee for this examination is paid directly to NCEES.
PE Exam Application Announcement:  Applications are currently being accepted for those who have completed 4 years of experience since graduation.  For best customer service, apply early.  See FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS for more information.

Reinstatement Application
If your Kansas Professional Engineering license has lapsed or been cancelled, you must complete the Reinstatement Application.  The fee is $100.

Return to Practice Application
If your Professional Engineering license has been on Retired status, you must complete the Return to Practice Application to change your license to Active status.  Continuing education is required for Active status.

Exam Information

EXAM FEES are payable to NCEES.  Do NOT register or pay NCEES until you have been approved by the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions.  You may lose any fees paid to NCEES if not approved by KSBTP first.

Exam candidates will receive official notice with exact location and reporting time from NCEES.  If you are an exam candidate and have not received the admittance notice within two weeks of the exam date, contact NCEES through your NCEES e-mail account or at 864-654-6824 and ask for the Kansas coordinator.  Posted exam dates and locations are subject to change.   

Exam study material information is available through NCEES.

Exam RETAKE or NO-SHOW Information:  Any applicant who is admitted to an examination and who either does not appear for the exam or who fails the exam, must again pay the fee to take the exam in another exam administration.  Kansas law does not provide for refunds of any application fees.

Exam applicants with a baccalaureate degree from outside the United States must have the degree evaluated.  Early deadlines apply.  Evaluation information available here.

The NEXT EXAM dates are October 25 & 26, 2013.  The deadlines for applications to KSBTP are:

    Fundamentals of Engineering Exam - Graduates & non-Kansas Undergraduate Students                - June  15, 2013

    Professional Engineering Exam - June 15, 2013

    Fundamentals of Engineering Exam - Kansas Undergraduate Students - August 15, 2013

 These deadlines are strictly enforced.

CBT (COMPUTER BASED TESTING) - COMING SOON!


In 2014, the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam will be offered solely on computer.  See NCEES for more information on the CBT (Computer Based Testing).
